Prime Minister tours Dornogovi Province
Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh and his accompanying delegation, including Minister of Roads and Transportation J.Bat-Erdene, Minister of Energy Ts.Davaasuren and Minister of Health D.Sarangerel, are paying a visit to Dornogovi Province from June 20 to 23.
During his meeting with the province’s government officials and heads, the prime minister gave them seven tasks for strengthening fiscal discipline and ensuring accountability.
In his meeting with the province’s residents, some told the prime minister that they have seen real
progress in the province’s development as the government implemented several projects through financing from the state budget, foreign soft loans and non-refundable aids in Dornogovi in recent years, and others noted that there are a lot of problems pending their resolutions.
The province’s mayor told the ministers that cement factories were built in Dalanjargalan and Urgun soums, and small power plants in Altanshiree, Zamiin-Uud and Urgun soums will be launched soon.
The mayor said that as the power plants begin their operations, 1,300 people will have new jobs, and underlined that the province’s government office believe that ongoing and upcoming projects will have a notable positive impact on the province’s development and economic growth.
He added that unemployment rate in the province decreased last year, while GDP growth reached around 10 percent, and the province’s GDP per capita stands at 4.39 million MNT.
The prime minister will oversee processes of constructions of transport and logistics center, and solar and wind power plants being built in the province.
On June 22, U.Khurelsukh will attend the ground breaking ceremony of the oil refinery which will be built in Dornogovi Province, and India’s Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh has arrived in Mongolia to attend the ground breaking ceremony. The refinery will have a processing capacity of 1.5 million tons of oil per year and will annually produce 560,000 tons of gasoline and 670,000 tons of diesel, as well as 107,000 tons of liquefied natural gas.
India has provided a 700 million USD loan for the oil refinery and 264 million USD for pipelines that will connect oil resources in Dornod Province to the oil refinery. The 20year loan will have an interest rate of 1.75 percent and principal payments will be waived during the first five years.
The prime minister will also attend the opening ceremony of the new solar power plant in the province.
