Kh.Bayanmunkh makes request to IAAC
Darkhan avarga Kh.Bayanmunkh said he wants the Independent Agency Against Corruption (IAAC) to investigate people involved in doping tests of folk wresters and ban wrestlers who used performance enhancing drugs on Wednesday during press conference.
After appealing to the IAAC, the darkhan avarga said, “In recent times, the reputation of wrestlers has been stained by doping. As Naadam festival approaches, this issue is escalating. Thus, I want to check the doctors and staff that evaluated the doping case. Back in our days, there were no performance enhancing drugs, we only had vitamin C. However, in recent years, the use of prohibited substances has become a major issue. The organizations that are distributing this prohibited drug should also be questioned. The Central Naadam Commission said that the Naadam festivities will go on as planned this year. Head of the Wrestling Branch Commission G.Bayasgalan is trying to host Naadam using the state police. If any commotion is to take place during Naadam, hold G.Bayasgalan and B.Bat-Erdene responsible. We cannot discriminate against ethnicities and races. The top 16 wrestlers of last year’s Naadam were tested and the results made it clear that none of them used prohibited substances, but it is suspicious that they had a retest after the Naadam festivities. The former Wrestling Association said that the wrestlers who used prohibited substances are not to wrestle during Naadam. This is unfortunate. Therefore, I am appealing to the IAAC.”
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, the Governmental Implementing Agency, Physical Culture and Sports Authority, the Mongolian National Olympic Commission and the National Anti Doping Organization are implementing the National Anti-Doping Control-1 project.
Within the project, five wrestlers were discovered to have used prohibited substances after last year’s Naadam. Likewise, this year, nine wrestlers were tested and three failed the test.
The wrestlers who failed the test have the right to retake the test using samples collected at the same time as the initial test.
The Presidium of the Wrestling Council has made the decision to not let those who used performance enhancement drugs take part in the wrestling tournament Naadam festival.
The Anti-Doping Control-1 project has tested 43 wrestlers to date.
On January 28, three wrestlers were tested, and six wrestlers in February 15. All wrestlers came out clean.
