I.Odonchimeg wins best leading actress award at SCO Film Festival
The first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) film festival was held in Qingdao, China from June 12 to 18 in Shandong Province. About 55 international films were featured at the five-day festival, and saw participation of over 500,000 filmmakers and fans.
Representing Mongolia were Head of the Department of Culture and Art G.Erdenebat, Head the Culture and Art Authority G.Batkhuyag, and representations from "Soliot Ekh", "Eej", “Chinggisiin Khuukhduud", "Tsagaan khadag", and "Tom 4 Tolgoit".
Additionally, more than 20 delegates from MNB, Urguu cinema, MNB, and Mongolian media took part. Members of the Mongolian Academy of Arts and Culture have made a presentation at the event about the Mongolian film industry.
Film representations of other countries congratulated the Mongolian filmmakers, artists and actors present. Six Mongolian films competed for an award at the festival. “Eej” and “Soliot Ekh” were nominated for the best female leading role award, in which I.Odonchimeg won for her role in “Soliot Ekh”. The judges of the competitions came from 12 different countries and D.Tsengel (PhD), specialist in screening and media performance from the Mongolian Culture and Art Authority, also worked as a judge.
The Mongolian film industry has been steadily expanding in the past years and has collaborated with many foreign filmmakers to compete in international film festivals.
