Rain restarts Ulaan Tsutaglan waterfall
Uvurkhangai Province’s famous Ulaan Tsutaglan waterfall dried out earlier this year due to drought. The waterfall is located in Bat-Ulzii soum and is considered one of the most beautiful geographical locations of the country. When the waterfall dried out, many speculated if it was due to drought or nearby mining activities.
The mayor of Bat-Ulzii soum denied social media reports blaming mining for Ulaan Tsutaglan’s dry out as the soum does not have any mining operations. He stated that it was due to natural reasons and when it rains again, Ulaan Tsutaglan would revive.
After heavy rain in Arkhangai and Uvurkhangai over the weekends, the waterfall has come back to life. Locals said that after several more rains, the flow of Ulaan-Tsutaglan will increase. The heavy rainfall also caused roads of Kharkhorin and Tsetserleg to flood, and local officials have warned travelers to drive carefully along the roads.
