Con­sul­ta­tive meet­ing on SDGs held

The govern­ment of Mongolia, United Na­tions De­vel­op­ment Pro­gramme and the Asian De­vel­op­ment Bank hosted a con­sul­ta­tive meet­ing for Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment Goals and Mon­go­lian De­vel­op­ment Vi­sion-2030 on June 25 at the State Palace. In her open­ing re­marks, UN Res­i­dent Co­or­di­na­tor and UNDP Res­i­dent Rep­re­sen­ta­tive in Mongolia Beate Trankmann said, “Mongolia has made good ini­tial progress to­wards the SDGs. It was an early adopter by cre­at­ing its own Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment Vi­sion for 2030 that brings the goals into na­tional con­text. It has also suc­ceeded in boost­ing economic re­cov­ery, with growth re­bound­ing and fis­cal deficits nar­row­ing. This helps cre­ate the en­abling en­vi­ron­ment needed to sup­port the SDGs in fu­ture.”

The UN stands ready to sup­port Mongolia’s com­mit­ments to mak­ing the SDV and the SDGs a re­al­ity, and is fo­cus­ing on three main ar­eas which are de­vel­op­ing the tools for plans and bud­gets that sup­port the SDGs, build­ing strong, sta­ble in­sti­tu­tional sys­tems and the ev­i­dence base for co­or­di­nated SDG-led poli­cies and es­tab­lish­ing en­hanced mon­i­tor­ing and eval­u­a­tion sys­tems, in­clud­ing SDG dash­boards.
