Brace for a heat wave

The typical scorching summer heat is expected to linger this month, reported the National Agency for Meteorolog­y and Environmen­tal Monitoring.

Here are July forecasts for ethe country.

Western region

Meteorolog­ists predict that temperatur­es will average 12 to 17 degrees Celsius near mountainou­s regions and up to 27 degrees Celsius in Altai Gobi area, while the rest of the country will fluctuate between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius over the next month. The northern part of Uvs Province, on the other hand, is forecasted to become one to 1.5 degrees Celsius higher than most areas.

There will be brief rain showers in Bayan-Ulgii, northern part of Zavkhan, Govi-Altai, southern part of Bayankhong­or, Khovd, and Uvs provinces. Rain showers are highly likely to hit most of the country in early July, northern regions in early and midJuly, and in some parts of the country later in the month.

Central region

After a windy start, most of the central region will experience a relatively hot summer with temperatur­es rising to up to 22 degrees Celsius during the day and cooling to four to 10 degrees Celsius at night.

On average, the western part of the central region will be around 12 to 17 degrees Celsius and the rest between 17 and 22 degrees Celsius. Northern areas in Khuvsgul Province are estimated to be one to two degrees hotter.

Over the next 30 days, the southern part of Khuvsgul, northern part of Arkhangai, Tuv, and eastern part of Selenge will be cooler than other regions with high chance of rainfall.

Eastern region

The temperatur­e in this area will average 18 to 23 degrees Celsius, which is almost two degrees higher than the annual average temperatur­e.

Moderate rainfall is expected in southern part of Sukhbaatar and southwest of Dornod, while other parts experience low precipitat­ion this month.

Gobi region

Weather forecasts indicate that this year’s July will be hotter than that of previous years, with temperatur­es exceeding the average by up to two degrees celsius.

Dundgovi, Dornogovi and Umnugovi provinces will heat up to 17 to 22 degrees Celsius during the day and cool to 17 degrees at night at the beginning of July before heating up to 37 degrees Celsius in mid-July.

As usual, the Gobi region is forecasted to have low precipitat­ion compared to other regions but higher than the annual average of the region.
