Czech-Mongolia consular consultative meeting held
The second consular consultative meeting of the foreign affairs ministries of Mongolia and the Czech Republic took place on September 17 in Prague, to discuss consular affairs cooperation between the two countries.
The delegations were led by State Secretary of the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren and Czech Deputy Minister for Legal and Consular Affairs Martin Smolek.
The sides exchanged views on facilitating the two countries’ visa requirements and procedures, establishing a visa waiver for the two countries’ holders of official passports, establishing a social protection agreement between the two countries on cooperation in the social protection sector, and issues regarding a Czech work visa.
The Czech side told the Mongolian officials that starting on November 1, Mongolians will be able to apply for a short-stay Schengen visa at the Visa Application Center, which will be opened in Ulaanbaatar soon, and applying for a long-stay visa or work visa is available at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ulaanbaatar.
They pointed out that as the new visa regulations approved by the government of the Czech Republic entered into force on May 1, Czech’s accredited organizations are receiving their workforce from Mongolia under the new regulations.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to sign the proposed social protection agreement this year, and the sides believe that the agreement will protect the social security rights of the two countries’ citizens.
The government of Mongolia hopes that the agreement will be of crucial importance to protecting the rights of 8,677 Mongolians living in the Czech Republic and addressing problems facing them.
The sides agreed to hold the next consultative meeting in Ulaanbaatar in 2019.
