Snowfall forecasted for central and eastern provinces
Weather forecasters announced that it will snow this week, mainly in central and eastern regions of Mongolia, while the rest of the country experiences rain.
WESTERN REGION
Residents in the western region should keep their umbrellas and wear rain coats starting Wednesday when the temperature is likely to see a sudden drop. Forecasts indicate that there might be rainstorms throughout this region on Wednesday and Thursday.
The National Agency for Meteorology, Hydrology, and Environmental Monitoring reported daytime temperature of one to six degrees Celsius and nighttime temperature of -13 degrees Celsius around Altai, Khangai, Khankhokhii, Turgen and Bulnain mountainous areas. Altai Uvur Govi area will be slightly warmer, 13 to 18 degrees Celsius during the day and two to minus seven degrees Celsius at night, while the rest of the western region experiences average daytime temperature of 10 degrees Celsius and nighttime temperature of minus four degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists predicted that it will get warmer during the weekend.
CENTRAL REGION
Some central provinces should expect light snowfall and rain on Wednesday and eastern parts of the region on Thursday.
Wind speed will stay at 14 meters per second in most central provinces but reach up to 18 meters per second in most areas on Friday. Experts warned about possible snow blizzards on this day.
A sudden temperature drop is predicted throughout central Mongolia. From Wednesday to Friday, the temperature will fluctuate between zero and five degrees Celsius during the day and dip to -10 degrees at night around, Gorkhi-Terelj National Park.
The weekend will be warmer with temperatures rising to 10 degrees Celsius during the day and staying between zero and minus five degrees Celsius at night near Darkhad Valley and Khuvsgul, Khangai and Khentii mountainous regions, while other areas will have temperatures hitting 12 to 17 degrees Celsius during the day and dropping to minus two degrees at night.
EASTERN REGION
It will rain and snow in western parts of the eastern region on Wednesday, in most eastern provinces on Thursday and Friday, and in eastern parts on Saturday, according to weather reports.
Wind speed is expected to increase to 12 to 14 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 16 to 18 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday. Experts warned about possible dust and snow storms later in the week.
Daytime temperature will fluctuate between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius in the eastern region with nighttime temperatures reaching below -12 degrees Celsius.
GOBI
Rain showers have been forecasted in western parts of the Gobi region on Thursday and in some parts on Friday. Residents in this region should be prepared for dust and snow storms this week and strong winds, reaching up to 18 meters per second.
The temperature is predicted to stay relatively warm, 17 to 22 degrees Celsius during the day and six to 11 degrees at night. But it might drop to four to nine degrees Celsius during the day and minus three degrees at night later in the week.
