The fourth think tank forum titled “ChinaMongolia-Russia economic corridor: Innovation and Co-Development” took place at the National University of Mongolia (NUM) from September 18 to 19.
Nearly 120 officials and experts from Mongolia, China and Russia participated in the forum to discuss the building processes of a trilateral economic corridor program between the three countries, and ways to accelerate the proposed projects which will be implemented under the program.
The forum’s attendees expect to submit their proposals to intensify the establishment of the trilateral economic corridor and strengthen trilateral cooperation from the two-day forum to their respective countries’ policy makers.
In the forum’s opening remarks, Director of the NUM Ya.Tumurbaatar said, “The trilateral economic corridor, an important part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, is related to not only the economy but also various fields such as culture, science, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.”
During the forum, the experts and officials participated in three panel discussions which focused on cooperation in energy, transportation, education, culture, science, technology and socio-economic issues.
Since the first think tank forum took place in Ulaanbaatar in 2015, the second forum took place in China’s Inner Mongolia in 2016, and the third was held in Russia’s Buryatia last year.
