The Days with Autumn Vegetables trade fair is taking place at Misheel Expo Center through September 24 to improve food supply and support national producers and farmers.

All vegetables are being sold for 100 to 200 MNT lower per kilogram than at other markets and shops. Potato costs 600 MNT per kilogram, carrots 600 MNT per kilogram, cabbage 500 MNT per kilogram, leaf cabbage 5,000 MNT per kilogram, tomatoes 6,000 MNT per kilogram, and string of garlic costs 10,000 MNT per kilogram. Meanwhile, a kilogram of potato costs 800 MNT, cabbage costs 1,000 MNT, and carrots cost 1,500 MNT at other markets, including Bumbugur Trade Center.

A kilogram of fresh fruits, including currants, blueberry and seabuckthorn, cost around 6,000 to 10,000 MNT at the trade fair.

Farmer from Sukhbaatar soum in Selenge Province M.Selenge said, “I’m participating in this fair for the second year. I’m selling vegetables I grew myself. Our provincial authority organizes training on the correct way to grow and ferment vegetables. We even build our own greenhouses. We didn’t lose much of our vegetables this summer because we had plentiful of rain. This is the reason vegetable prices are so low at markets.”

Organizers plan to hold “Green food – Healthy Life” event on Friday, the first Meat and Dairy Campaign on Saturday, and “For Children” open house on Sunday.

Discussions related to meat and dairy sector, food processing, consumption of food and more will be held throughout the event to improve Mongolian food production and support local producers.
