P. Battur: I’ve never seen a lazy athlete

-

Since leaving the National Academic Drama Theater, P. Battur took the Mongolian public by storm with his role as Tuvshin in the hit TV series “Tusgai Salaa” (Special Platoon) in 2010. His leading role in the movie was of a scrawny lawyer and many were shocked to find out that the actor hid his bulging muscles to create the role.

For quite some time now, P. Battur has been admired as a bodybuilder. He gave a short interview about his career and bodybuilding.

How much did you like sports as a child? Which sport did you like the most?

I used to like sports a lot as a child. I especially played basketball a lot and used to mess around on the pull up bar performing many tricks.

What sport do you do now?

I like bodybuilding and fitness. It has been 13 years since I took a serious interest in it.

What do you like about bodybuilding?

Practicing any form of sport gives a person the patience that helps them win against themselves and the willpower to reach their dreams. The bodybuilding sport in particular instills these traits into a person.

Additionally, it also helps people say no to their bad habits and spend their time doing something productive. After all it is a sport that produces both physical beauty and good health at the same time.

How does sports benefit an individual? How did this sport affect who you are today?

Like I said, it instills many great characteristics and traits into a person. There is a saying that goes “a sound mind resides in a sound body”. I’ve never seen a lazy athlete. Quite the contrary, they are usually warrior-like and alert.

They also get sick less because they are ablebodied. These changes have come to me too.

Is there any sport that you like to go watch in person or see on TV?

I like to watch basketball on TV. I also like watching bodybuilding and fitness competitions. Perhaps because I practice it myself, it is nice to see how hard athletes have practiced.

Which sports team are you a fan of? Why?

I mentioned I like basketball and I am a fan of the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry to be specific. He is deemed a great athlete with many skills and abilities. I also like watching UFC fights.

Do you have any athletes that are close to you?

I am close friends with bodybuilding international master G. Jamtsai. We have been friends since I started pursuing bodybuilding.

How many hours do you spend at the gym during the week?

I try to workout three to four days a week. Each time, I spend about 90-120 minutes. If possible, I try to workout early in the morning. When I do this, I am very energetic throughout the day.

Perhaps sport is really important for an actor to take care of their appearance and keep their body in good shape. What exercises do you do to keep yourself healthy?

Aside from performing, I believe that an actor must be an example for others every day. This is my way of showing that I respect the audience and my career.
