Rosneft to support rural development and increase scholarships for Mongolians
Representatives of Russian Rosneft Public Joint Stock Company visited Mongolia this week.
Vice President of Rosneft Yuri Kalinin held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports G.Ganbayar on October 3 to discuss educational cooperation between Mongolia and the company.
Under a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports and Rosneft, 10 Mongolian students receive scholarships from the company to study engineering in Russia every year.
During their meeting, the sides agreed to raise the scholarship quota for Mongolian students in order to meet Mongolia’s demand in the engineering sector.
The Rosneft delegation noted that providing students who finished secondary schools with scholarship will be important, and the sides agreed to form a joint task force to study issues regarding the proposed quota for the ongoing scholarship program.
The Rosneft delegates also met with Chief of Staff to the President Z.Enkhbold on October 2 to talk about the ongoing cooperation between Mongolia and the company.
Representatives of Rosneft, including First Vice President Pavel Fedorov, Vice President Otabek Karimov, Vice President Yuri Kalinin and Chief Geologist Andrey Lazeev, attended the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Rosneft delegates introduced Z.Enkhbold to the key aims of their visit.
They exchanged views on some issues regarding fuel being imported from Russia to Mongolia.
The Russian delegates pointed out that as Mongolia’s fuel demand is increasing each year, to meet this increasing demand, they are holding a meeting with the president’s chief of staff to talk about mutual cooperation related to oil exploitation, refinery, and fuel export in detail.
At the end of their meeting, they pledged that Rosneft will donate eight million EUR to Mongolia to carry out a plan to develop Khalkh Gol soum of Dornod Province, where the Battle of Khalkhyn Gol occurred.
During his meeting with President of Russia Putin during the fourth Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok, Russia in September, President Kh.Battulga asked for Russian support to carry out an eight million USD plan to develop Khalkh Gol soum on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the battle.
Z.Enkhbold thanked Rosneft on behalf of the president and the Mongolian people for its donation.
