State Academic Theater showcases Gala show

-

The 86th anniversary of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet took place on October 7. This date also aligned with the theater’s 56th season and it opened with the show “Gala Opening”, which was filled with a selection from its best classical performances.

G.Erdenebaatar, the theater producer, said, “In the past half century, we have played over 50 performances on stage. As our theater is the only one of its kind in Mongolia, we are planning to have performances and events that are specifically for the youth. We named this year’s opening performance ‘Gala Opening’, going along with the international standards. The audience will be able to learn about the performances we have in our repertoire from the concert. Our performers will showcase our greatest of abilities in the shortest amount of time.”

The theater will be performing one of the most famous operas in the world, “Carmen” by G. Bizet on October 13, and the great classic “Swan Lake” by P. I. Tchaikovsky on October 14 as a continuation of the opening season. As part of the anniversary events, a historic exhibition about the theater’s performers and their performances is to take place.

The theater has also planned to perform world classics, such as the opera “Prince Igor” by A. Borodin and the ballet “La Bayadere” by L. Minkus, as well as new performances for children, the opera “Will the bear sing?” by D.Erdenebaatar and “Ow, Doctor” ballet.
