The 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games is being hosted in Buenos Aires, Argentina from October 6 to 18. The judo event of the Youth Olympics is being held until October 10. As of now, there are only two countries that have more than one medal on the medal table for judo; Russia (one gold, one silver) and Mongolia (two silver).

On the first and second days of the event, G.Temuujin (men’s 55 kg) and L.Sosorbaram (women’s 52 kg) snatched silver medals.

G.Temuujin defeated Colombian and Ukrainian judokas, but lost the gold medal match to Belarusian Artsiom Kolasau.

L.Sosorbaram beat judoka from Cuba, Madagascar, and Uzbekistan, but lost to Russian Irena Khabulova. The two judokas have not concluded their running in the Olympics yet as they are to compete in the team tournament.

The medal tally for judo is led by Russia, Azerbaijan, and Belarus, while Mongolia is currently ranked at seventh place.

Up until now, the international sports and culture event has never been hosted anywhere other than Asia. The new Olympic Park in Argentina was renovated with six pavilions. The Asia Pavilion for judo and wrestling, Africa Pavilion for fencing and modern pentathlon, Europe Pavilion for karate and weightlifting, Oceana pavilion for boxing and taekwondo, and America Pavilion for gymnastics and natatorium.

In general, the two judokas are mostly from Asian countries. Following Japan, Mongolia is known to have the second highest winning percentage in the sport. When it comes to top positions per capita, Mongolia is number one with 23,510 point per people, while Japan has 358,839 point per people.
