The Emergency Department of Darkhan UulProvince unveiled an exhibition of items used by emergency workers at its history museum on the occasion of the upcoming International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction.

By displaying uniforms, tools, collections, medals and other items, the department hopes people will become more aware of the efforts emergency workers put to ensure public order and protect people from disasters.

The Emergency Department of Darkhan UulProvince was established in 1962 as a fire brigade before becoming the Fire Brigade affiliated to the Darhan City Prevention and Control Division in 1981, and the local emergency department in 2005. Under orders by the National Emergency Management Agency, the Emergency Department of Darkhan Uul-Province expanded its operations in 2008.

Emergency departments located across Mongolia will also share their history and endeavors through an exhibition to promote their operations as initiated by the Seniors’ Association of the National Emergency Management Agency. The exhibition in Darkhan-Uul Province will be open through October 12.

International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction will be observed worldwide on October 13 to promote a global culture of natural disaster reduction, including prevention, mitigation, and preparedness. This year’s theme is “The SDGs and Disaster Risk Reduction: Meeting Target C of the Sendai Framework (Reducing the economic loss of disasters)”.
