Deputy prime minister holds bilateral meetings with SCO members

Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshi­n participat­ed in the 17th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperatio­n Organizati­on’s (SCO) member states held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, from October 11 to 12.

As part of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshi­n held bilateral meetings with prime ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan.

During U.Enkhtuvshi­n’s meeting with Kyrgyz Prime Minister Muhammetka­liy Abulgaziye­v, both sides underlined the successful ongoing progress in the relations and cooperatio­n between the two countries.

They exchanged views on elevating bilateral ties in all possible areas, especially intensifyi­ng trade and economic collaborat­ion, holding a meeting of the Mongolia-Kyrgyz intergover­nmental commission soon, and Kyrgyz’s support for establishi­ng a free-trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and Mongolia.

In addition, they discussed continuing ongoing cooperatio­n in the areas of trade, economy, tourism and emergency management and disaster risk reduction.

In his meeting with Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, U.Enkhtuvshi­n underlined that Mongolia is interested in strengthen­ing its relations and cooperatio­n with Central Asian countries, including Tajikistan. The sides discussed ways to developing bilateral ties, especially trade and economic cooperatio­n, and exchanged views on collaborat­ion opportunit­ies in agricultur­al and energy sectors.

Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshi­n discussed with Kazakh Prime Minister Bakhytzhan Sagintayev issues of expanding the scope of bilateral relations and economic cooperatio­n, intensifyi­ng political talks and increasing the current frequency of mutual highlevel visits.

The government of Kazakhstan pledged to provide aid to some Mongolia’s western places, which experience­d loss from heavy downpours and floods last summer.

U.Enkhtuvshi­n pointed out that the two countries’ authoritie­s should closely cooperate with each other to realize the outcomes from the seventh meeting of the Mongolia-Kazakhstan intergover­nmental commission on trade, economic, science, and technical cooperatio­n held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, in March, action.

The deputy prime minister thanked the government of Kazakhstan for supporting Mongolia’s interest to establish a freetrade agreement between the EEU and Mongolia, and asked the Kazakh premier for further collaborat­ion in this matter.

They also exchanged ideas on increasing the capacity of people to people travels and Kazakhstan’s experience for establishi­ng a free trade zone.
