State buys ‘top’ artworks of 2018

The closing ceremony of the “Best Artworks of the Year 2018” exhibition took place on October 12. A total of 117 art works of 87 artists were displayed during the exhibition in various medium, including fine art, traditiona­l paintings, sculptures, carvings, graphics, leather art, and installati­on. During the ceremony, the top works were selected by a profession­al council and bought through state funds in accordance to a government resolution approved in 2006.

The ceremony was organized by the Culture and Arts Authority, Government Implementi­ng Agency, and Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery. Among the artworks “Black snow” by Ts.Battur, “Rainy Autumn of Parts” by S.Boldbaatar, “Mother” by P.Ganbat, “Time wheel” by T.Nurmaajav, “Khulegu King” by G.Odbayar and sculpture “Horseman of steppe” by T.Davaasambu­u were selected as the top works of 2018 and purchased by the state.
