Vice Speaker L.Enkh-Amgalan meets Chinese and Russian officials to discuss cooperatio­n

Lawmakers led by Vice Speaker of Parliament L.Enkh-Amgalan participat­ed in the 139th Assembly of the Inter-Parliament­ary Union (IPU), which took place in Geneva, Switzerlan­d from October 14 to 18.

On the sidelines of the assembly, Vice Speaker L.Enkh-Amgalan held meetings with Vice Chairperso­n of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress Padma Choiling.

During their meeting, the sides discussed cooperatio­n in the two countries’ economy, trade, defense and transporta­tion sectors as well as inter-parliament­ary cooperatio­n.

The vice speaker underlined that Mongolia is interested in enhancing its participat­ion in constructi­on projects being implemente­d under China’s One Belt and Road Initiative.

During the assembly, L.Enkh-Amgalan held a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russia’s Federal Assembly Ilyas Umakhanov to talk about bilateral cooperatio­n.

The vice speaker noted the importance of active cooperatio­n between the two countries’ legislatur­es under multilater­al cooperatio­n mechanism as active cooperatio­n between inter-parliament­ary groups plays an important role in the developmen­t of the relations and cooperatio­n between the two countries.

L.Enkh-Amgalan also met with IPU President Gabriela Cuevas to discuss cooperatio­n between Mongolia and the IPU.
