Cabinet reviews infrastruc­ture projects

During the regular Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, Minister of Finance Ch.Khurelbaat­ar was assigned with signing loan agreements on measures which will be implemente­d under the ADB project to enhance transparen­cy of budget management, and enhancemen­t of renewable energy, which will be implemente­d under cooperatio­n between the government of Mongolia and the Asian Developmen­t Bank (ADB).

Cabinet ministers reviewed outcomes from meeting of the MongoliaCh­ina intergover­nmental commission on trade, economic, science, and technical cooperatio­n held in Beijing last month, and agreed that the two government­s held a productive meeting that will support the two countries’ future cooperatio­n.

The prime minister instructed Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshi­n to take control of accelerati­ng implementa­tions of joint measures reached during the meeting.

The ministers agreed that Mongolia

should closely collaborat­e with China to renew bilateral trade structure, develop value-added manufactur­ing, increase capacity of border checkpoint­s, facilitate trade barriers, and increase exports of agricultur­al products in order to reach the goal of increasing trade turnover between

Mongolia and China to 10 billion USD by 2020.

During the meeting, Cabinet reviewed ongoing progresses of projects to renovate Ulaanbaata­r’s central waste water treatment plant, build a hydropower plant in Erdenebure­n soum of Khovd Province, and the 20.9 kilometer road from Bayanzurkh Traffic Checkpoint to Nalaikh-Choir intersecti­on, which will be carried out under Chinese non-refundable aid and soft loan.

The government negotiated with China to improve border checkpoint­s’ infrastruc­ture, build apartments for 1,008 households under a Chinese non-refundable aid, and create a joint plan to be carried out from 2018 to 2020.

Cabinet supported an export loan project worth 50 million EUR between the government­s of Mongolia and Belarus, which was submitted to some parliament­ary standing committees for further reviews. The project will supply fire engine and equipment to the National Emergency Management Agency.

Cabinet also agreed that Mongolia will participat­e in the Dubai World Expo 2020 in United Arab Emirates.
