Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin met with representatives from the Japanese consortium in charge of the construction project for the new international airport in Khushigt Valley, which is being built with Japanese financing, on October 26 at the State Palace to discuss speeding up the project.
During their meeting, both sides agreed that they should work together by creating a detailed plan for beginning the airport’s operations quickly. The airport’s construction is at nearly 90 percent completion. Under the new cooperation plan, the parties will focus on building facilities for catering and fuel storage.
In addition, both sides discussed training engineers and technical ground staff who will work at the new airport, and the process to transfer officials of government agencies including customs, border protection service, inspection, and police from the old airport to the new.
