Service center for Gender Based Violence victims opens in Khuvsgul
With support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), a new one stop service center for providing comprehensive care to victims of gender-based violence opened in Murun, the capital of Khuvsgul Province, on October 26.
Resident Representative of UNFPA Mongolia Naomi Kitahara said, “53.7 percent of women in Khuvsgul Province have experienced one or more types of violence in their lifetime according to a gender-based violence survey report. We moved one step forward to provide comprehensive care to victims of gender-based violence.”
The province’s government office will provide effective care and support to victims of gender-based and domestic violence, and provided its budget and human resources for the one stop service center.
The center will provide the victims with medical care, counseling, legal services, and police protection in one place to avoid re-victimization of victims.
