‘Heritage of Treasure’ film to feature Erdenet
A feature film titled “The Heritage of Treasure” about Erdenet is to be made by Mongol Tulga Film Foundation. The film will be dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Erdenet and Erdenet Mining Corporation. Within the project, authorities from the province and artists of the foundation have established a memorandum of cooperation on October 28.
L.Battulga, the director general of the film said, “The film shooting will take place in Russia and the Czech Republic through four seasons. The film is expected to be premiered by September 2019.”
The screenplay was written by R.Munkhtaria, laureate of the Writers Union of Mongolia. The film will feature State Honored Artists G.Zolboot, B.Tungalag, J.Oyundari and B.Bat-Ulzii.
Founded in 1974, the city is one of the youngest settlements in Mongolia. About 25 years before the city was founded, an area with large deposits of copper were discovered at the site. In the mid-1980s almost half the population of the city was Russians. With the fall of communism, most of them left. As of now, only about 10 percent of the population is Russian.
