New Yarmag bridge opens
The construction of the new Yarmag bridge and the repair of the old bridges has been completed and on November 2, the bridges opened to traffic movement. The bridge has been constructed within the framework of the government and the Mayor’s Office 2016-2020 action plan regarding the expansion of roads and logistical networks to support economic growth and provide social safety and service.
The opening of the bridge was attended by Chair of the Citizens’ Representative (CCR) S.Amarsaikhan, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold, CCR members and representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia.
During the opening ceremony, Mayor S.Batbold said, “The general plan to develop Ulaanbaatar through 2020 includes the decreasing of traffic congestion at main intersections, railway crossings and near Tuul River. There are multi level intersectoral constructions planned for the Ulaanbaatar city road networks. Under the longterm and low-interest loans from the government of China, the construction of the new Yarmag bridge over the Tuul River and the repair of old bridges were completed. The railway and bridge projects cover a total of 5.75 km and the construction work provided jobs for over 300 domestic engineers through more than 40 companies.”
The new bridge is 250 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. Through the bridge, the traffic volume of the area will be decreased by two to three folds according to Ulaanbaatar Mayor's Office Public Relations Department
