QS Asia to help key universities meet world-class standards

Head of Parliament’s Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science Yo.Baatarbileg held a meeting with CEO of QS Asia Mandy Mok on November 5 at the State Palace.

QS Asia is the regional subsidiary of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a British company specializing in education. The QS publishes various university rankings, and the rankings published by QS are well known worldwide as the QS World University Rankings.

The higher education consulting service of QS offers comprehensive and practical advice on performance improvement, to assist higher education institute or university in achieving worldclass standards.

As Mok visited Mongolia at the invitation of the National University of Mongolia (NUM) and the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) to assist these universities in achieving world-class standards, President of NUM Ya.Tumurbaatar and Director of NUMS J.Tsolmon jointed the meeting.

During their meeting, lawmaker Yo.Baatarbileg pointed out that the government of Mongolia should focus on meeting the quality and standards of the nation’s higher education to the global level.

The lawmaker stated that the state will promote the nation’s education reform to include the country’s key universities in the list of Western Asia-Pacific’s top 100 universities by 2024.

The head of the standing committee said that he is glad that QS will conduct QS Xchange Seminar Program at some Mongolian universities before Parliament starts discussing a package of laws related to the education sector reforms.

Mok noted that the Mongolian University of Science and Technology made a request to QS Asia three years ago to determine its ranking, but as the university didn’t meet some essential requirements to be ranked, QS Asia could not meet the university’s request.

She added that QS Asia has a wide range of opportunities to collaborate with Mongolia’s main universities to elevate their ranks to the global standards.

The QS experts say that the company offers exceptional quality independent research into the higher education sector, allowing institutions to understand current and developing trends, and make marketing adjustments for them in real time.

In addition, QS provide innovative software solutions that help universities and higher education organizations facilitate international partnerships, develop their international presence, and improve the management of their international office.

QS also provides a parallel service to governmental organizations aiming to improve their country’s higher education standards.
