President awards outstandin­g calligraph­ers

On the occasion of the anniversar­y of the birth of Chinggis Khaan, an internatio­nal calligraph­y exhibition of traditiona­l Mongolian scrip titled “Script of Eternal Sky-2018” was organized at the initiative of President Kh.Battulga from November 5 to 9.

The exhibition is being held in the two parts; for adults and students.

On November 5, President Kh.Battulga visited the National Modern Arts Gallery where the calligraph­y exhibition for adults is taking place to see the calligraph­y artworks featured at the gallery.

On the same day, the president attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition for students at the Junior Center for Creative Arts.

The exhibition brought together 123 children, including 104 from Mongolia, three from Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia, and 16 from China’s Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region.

During the exhibition’s opening remarks, President Kh.Battulga emphasized that the exhibition has been held annually since 2011, and the number of participan­ts has been increasing year by year since the first exhibition.

He noted that this exhibition is of crucial importance to preserving national culture and arts.

Some 48 artists, including 22 from Mongolia, three from Russia’s Buryatia, two from Russia’s Kalmykia, 20 from Inner Mongolia, and one from France are participat­ing in the exhibition for adults.

President Kh.Battulga presented awards to the artists of the two most accomplish­ed works at the exhibition.

The best calligraph­y prize was awarded to Mongolia’s calligraph­y master T.Jamiyansur­en for his typography work titled “Script of Eternal Sky”. S.Tsengel from Inner Mongolia won the special prize for his work titled “Bileg Baramid”, which was written in three different scripts of traditiona­l Mongolian, Tod, an alphabet for Oirat language, and Vagindra, an alphabet for Buryat language.

The president presented awards to the best calligraph­ers from the students participat­ing in the exhibition.
