- By B.DULGUUN

The third edition of the National Forum on Organic Food and Agriculture is set to take place on November 23 with numerous workshops on the previous two days.

This year, the forum will be themed “Have a Vision – Choose Organic”, announced organizers – the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, ADRA Mongolia, Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit, Ulaanbaatar Food and Agriculture Office, and Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This theme was unanimously supported at the previous forum held last year in October.

Agreeing that choosing organic food is the root to a long and healthy life, organic producers in Mongolia are striving to incorporate organic and sustainable production principles into all stages of food network, and lay the foundation for the development of sustainable agriculture.

The upcoming three-day forum will focus on organic methods for eliminating insects and pests harming agricultural fields, improving the quality of soil, and produce organic fertilizers. Participants will undergo “Organic Fertilizer” workshop aimed to enhance their theoretical knowledge on the first two days before heading to Mongol Ecology Bordoo LLC in Bayanchandmani soum of Tuv Province for practical work.

The organic food production sector is targeting to make five percent of all food and agricultural production organic by the year 2030.
