Protestors demand Parliament to disband

- By R.UNDARIYA

Opposing the misuse of the SME Fund, a peaceful protest took place at Sukhbaatar Square on November 11. The protestors, spearheaded by lawyer and head of the People’s Special Council NGO Ts.Narangerel, are demanding the dissolution of Parliament.

“The people are protesting to demand Parliament’s full dissolution in relation to embezzlement. There are 12 grounds for dissolving Parliament including the SME Fund, the offshore issue and the 60 billion MNT case. In regards to this, the letter of demand to Parliament about their dissolution will be sent on November 12. As required by the written request, Parliament must resign. This is because Parliament is made up of those who do not have the confidence of the people or the ability to do their job and only care about their personal interest,” said Ts.Narangerel.

He went on to say, “Parliament should disband and the general assembly of the people should convene and amend the constitution. By changing the constitution, the people have

to decide the kind of governance that they are ruled under.”

The people at the protest were holding up signs printed in red and black that read:

“It is time to change the tender laws that only serve the oligarchy business minded government heads who support the Erenhot economy.” “What can you compare government heads to when their heads only bow to foreigners, their feet only touch foreign soil, and their hands only reach out to non-natives.”

“Stop importing products that can be made domestically. Mongolia’s development is dependent on domestic production!”

“We oppose the Mongolian People’s Party’s execution of poisonous ideas to not develop SME. They want to be let off the hook and have the case closed for money laundering with only a ‘Sorry’!”
