4 km border barrier erected in Bayan-Ulgii

A four kilometer barrier with barbed wires was placed at the Mongolia-Russia border in Nogoonnuur soum of Bayan-Ulgii Province. The construction was completed on November 9 and the barbed barriers were built with the purpose of preventing and cutting down border transgression and illegal crossings.

Last year, 70 stolen horses were smuggled over the border in the region. The authorities said 30 of the stolen horses were from Nogoonnuur soum. The Border Patrol Unit No. 0285 has suggested that the barbed barriers, which cost 11.8 million MNT, be built along the border to the Mayor’s Office of Bayan-Ulgii.
