‘Yellow Bus’ premiers in South Korea
“Yellow Bus” directed by Jung So-hee premiered in the Seoul Cinema on November 10. Through the documentary, the audience can get an insight to the life and thoughts of Mongolian singer S.Gantogoo who performs music largely in Korea. The artist also speaks of how he came to work in the music industry of Korea, what his aspirations are in life, and his future dreams.
S.Gantogoo started working on the documentary two years ago, but because of his participation in “Yag Tuun Shig” TV show, he had taken a brief intermission from the film. The documentary was shot in Korea and Mongolia, particularly in Khuvsgul Province, the birthplace of the artist.
When asked about how the film came to be, he said, “Our director works as the head of the Culture and Arts for Seoul Expats. He told me that he has the rights to create a documentary and that he wants to make one about a foreign artist in Korea who has spent many years there. He told me that he specially wants it on a Mongolian artist.”
He went on further to say, “We worked on the documentary for over two years. At the time, we took a break from filming because of the TV show. The film crew was surprised and amazed at how I was becoming more popular because of the TV show and congratulated me. Now as for why the documentary was named ‘Yellow Bus’, when our film crew came to Mongolia, we rented a bus together and went to Khuvsgul. That bus took us through many great places. That’s why we named it that. Our bus was yellow.”
The musician wrote a song for the documentary and sang it in Korean and Mongolian. The film is expected to premiere in Mongolia soon.
