Fight for higher wage continues

Teachers and education sector staff threatened on Thursday to launch a demonstration immediately after the New Year’s to express their frustration with the government’s slow efforts to increase salaries.

Although the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports agreed to raise wages, there has not been a change in the wages of teachers and other employees in the education sector over the last four months, stressed T.Bayasgalan, the head of the Mongolian Education and Science Trade Unions.

“If our salaries aren’t raised before the end of the year, the new year will begin with demonstrations. It’s a lie that they don’t have money to increase wages. The recent case related to small and medium-sized enterprises showed that high-ranking officials embezzle billions by taking advantage of their position,” he said.
