Heads of state and government deliver their New Year’s messages

On the New Year’s Eve, President Kh.Battulga extended his greetings to the people of Mongolia.

The president said, “This past year is drawing to a close. We, Mongolians, are going to part with the 18th year of the third millennium and welcome 2019 -- a year in which we will securely forge our future.”

He highlighte­d that Mongolia overcame tough political-economic challenges, and consolidat­ed mutual trust and unity.

Kh.Battulga noted that 2019 shall be a “Year of Drastic Reform” and as a result of this reform, with the participat­ion and support of the public, a strong government, rule of law, and justice will prevail in Mongolia, and every citizen will become the owner of their wealth.

He stated, “We inherited the intellect, grit, agility, and strength of our magnificen­t ancestors. The intellectu­al capacity of Mongolians is leading the world in mind sports, and in these times, as we are tending the fire of the thousands of years old Mongolian state, we are making history that the future will judge.”

The president extended greetings of a happy new year to all the citizens of Mongolia and the ethnic Mongolians who are living around the globe.

He shared achievemen­ts of the Mongolian soldiers, border troops, doctors and nurses, police officers, emergency workers, and peacekeepe­rs, who all deal with extreme circumstan­ces, with the public.

President Kh.Battulga wished all the diplomats, representa­tives and staff representi­ng their respective countries and internatio­nal organizati­ons in Mongolia and their families success in their work in the year 2019.

Kh.Battulga concluded his message by saying, “May the 2,000 years of the statehood of Mongolia continue to thrive, protecting the spirit and fate of Mongolians!”

At the beginning of his message, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh highlighte­d that Mongolia’s real GDP grew by 6.3 percent in 2018.

U.Khurelsukh also underlined that according to reports from internatio­nal credit rating agencies, credit rating of Mongolia was elevated this past year, and the agencies expect that Mongolia will experience continuous economic growth in the future.

He emphasized that the government launched a megaprojec­t to build the oil refinery this year, and under the megaprojec­t, infrastruc­ture projects such as roads, railway and electric power transmissi­on are at completion of 50 to 90 percent.

The prime minister stressed that thanks to the government’s efforts, a new wastewater treatment plant started constructi­on this year, which will provide a healthy and safe living environmen­t to Ulaanbaata­r residents and supply grey water to thermal power plants by reprocessi­ng wastewater polluting Tuul River.

He stated that the government made progress in the developmen­t of the agricultur­al sector and is approachin­g its target to make Mongolia a country that exports food.

U.Khurelsukh noted that 2018 was a year that brought a “wind of justice” to society, and he will continue his efforts for strengthen­ing justice, responsibi­lity, accountabi­lity and transparen­cy in 2019.
