Heads of state and government deliver their New Year’s messages
On the New Year’s Eve, President Kh.Battulga extended his greetings to the people of Mongolia.
The president said, “This past year is drawing to a close. We, Mongolians, are going to part with the 18th year of the third millennium and welcome 2019 -- a year in which we will securely forge our future.”
He highlighted that Mongolia overcame tough political-economic challenges, and consolidated mutual trust and unity.
Kh.Battulga noted that 2019 shall be a “Year of Drastic Reform” and as a result of this reform, with the participation and support of the public, a strong government, rule of law, and justice will prevail in Mongolia, and every citizen will become the owner of their wealth.
He stated, “We inherited the intellect, grit, agility, and strength of our magnificent ancestors. The intellectual capacity of Mongolians is leading the world in mind sports, and in these times, as we are tending the fire of the thousands of years old Mongolian state, we are making history that the future will judge.”
The president extended greetings of a happy new year to all the citizens of Mongolia and the ethnic Mongolians who are living around the globe.
He shared achievements of the Mongolian soldiers, border troops, doctors and nurses, police officers, emergency workers, and peacekeepers, who all deal with extreme circumstances, with the public.
President Kh.Battulga wished all the diplomats, representatives and staff representing their respective countries and international organizations in Mongolia and their families success in their work in the year 2019.
Kh.Battulga concluded his message by saying, “May the 2,000 years of the statehood of Mongolia continue to thrive, protecting the spirit and fate of Mongolians!”
At the beginning of his message, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh highlighted that Mongolia’s real GDP grew by 6.3 percent in 2018.
U.Khurelsukh also underlined that according to reports from international credit rating agencies, credit rating of Mongolia was elevated this past year, and the agencies expect that Mongolia will experience continuous economic growth in the future.
He emphasized that the government launched a megaproject to build the oil refinery this year, and under the megaproject, infrastructure projects such as roads, railway and electric power transmission are at completion of 50 to 90 percent.
The prime minister stressed that thanks to the government’s efforts, a new wastewater treatment plant started construction this year, which will provide a healthy and safe living environment to Ulaanbaatar residents and supply grey water to thermal power plants by reprocessing wastewater polluting Tuul River.
He stated that the government made progress in the development of the agricultural sector and is approaching its target to make Mongolia a country that exports food.
U.Khurelsukh noted that 2018 was a year that brought a “wind of justice” to society, and he will continue his efforts for strengthening justice, responsibility, accountability and transparency in 2019.
