Lawmakers discuss cooperation with Russian Assembly member

Member of the Russian Federal Assembly’s Federation Council and First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Sergey Kalashnikov visited Mongolia last week.

Minister of Roads and Transport Development and Vice-Chair of the Mongolia-Russia Inter Parliamentary Group in the Mongolian Parliament B.Enkh-Amgalan welcomed Kalashnikov on May 17 at the State Palace to discuss cooperation in a wide range of issues.

B.Enkh-Amgalan said that Mongolia is interested in exporting meat, wool, cashmere, leather and dairy products to the northern part of Russia’s Urals, Siberia and Far Eastern Federal District, and adopting the technology and experience of Russia in the construction of the oil refinery being built in Dornogovi Province’s Altanshiree soum with Indian financing and support.

In response, Kalashnikov said he will support the minister’s cooperation proposals.

During their meeting, both sides expressed their hopes that bilateral cooperation will be elevated during the upcoming regular meeting of the MongoliaRussia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which will take place on May 30.

At the end of their meeting, Minister B.EnkhAmgalan invited Kalashnikov to participate in the celebration of the historic 80th anniversary of the victory of the Battle of Khalkhiin Gol.

Kalashnikov met with Head of Parliament’s Standing Committee on Economy J.Ganbaatar on Friday to discuss the ongoing economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Russian official noted the importance of deepening cooperation between the economic standing committees of the two countries and exchanging experience on similar economic challenges in the two countries.

Lawmaker J.Ganbaatar expressed his and Parliament’s interest for advancing inter-parliamentary activities and promoting activities for developing a close cooperation between the two standing committees.

J.Ganbaatar emphasized that Mongolia is interested in boosting tourism and citizen-to-citizen relations between the two nations, collaborating with each other to implement megaprojects, and bringing coal to international markets through Vladivostok Port.
