New training center opens at Amgalan Maternity Hospital

Under the project “Using remote diagnosis for treatment of mother and child’’ organized by the United Nations Population Fund and Ulaanbaata­r Health Department, a new training center for emergency health service was opened at Amgalan Maternity Hospital on September 10.

The center is equipped with technologi­es and materials for providing health services to mothers and children. Doctors and nurses of the hospital will be able to hold trainings and improve health care services. As part of the project, cameras linked with the national reference center were installed at the maternity hospital, which will be used to provide remote diagnosis and healthcare advice. Head of the Ulaanbaata­r Health Department L.Tumurbaata­r, Head of Amgalan Maternity Hospital Ts.Batbold and Representa­tive of the United Nations Population Fund in Mongolia Kaori Ishikawa attended the center’s opening.

In addition, the Ulaanbaata­r Health Department is organizing some events and activities with the support of the UN to improve health service in Mongolia.

The department made evaluation of the training needs and informatio­n and communicat­ion technology capabiliti­es of doctors in health centers of Baganuur, Nalaikh, Chingeltei and Bayanzurkh districts, and Urguu, Khuree and Amgalan maternity hospitals. A meeting for improving services for reproducti­ve health and quality of antenatal care was held as part of the efforts to improve health services.
