In accordance with the Law on Elections, political parties, coalitions and independent candidates running in the 2020 parliamentary election must submit relevant documents to the General Election Commission (GEC) from May 20 to 21. In this regard, Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) Democratic Party (DP) submitted the documents related to candidatesto the GEC on May 21.
Chairman of DP S.Erdene said, “The names and documents of 76 candidates for the parliamentary elections have been officially registered and handed over to the GEC. The GEC will decide whether to approve them for running in the election after examining the documents. All materials submitted by the candidates were completed 100 percent and submitted on time. There are no missing materials.”
Lawmaker of MPP Ya.Sodbaatar said, “In accordance with the Law on Elections of Mongolia, the relevant materials of MPP candidates were compiled and submitted to the GEC within the legal deadline.”
“Candidates who met the three requirements (high morals, education and experience) set by Chairman of MPP U.Khurelsukh were nominated. The list of candidates has not changed,” he added.
In addition, the Right Person Electorate Coalition, including National Labor Party, Mongolian Social Democratic Party and Ethos Party, handed over their candidates’ documents to the GEC.
On May 19, a total of 56 independent candidates handed over their documents and materials to the GEC.
