Center for Climate Change Research to be established
During its regular meeting on May 20, Cabinet made a decision to establish the Center for Climate Change Research and Cooperation.
The center will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of state policies, laws and decisions on climate change issued by Parliament, the government and the state administrative bodies in charge of climate change. It will be a selffinancing stateowned enterprise that will operate by the principle of selffinancing on the basis of the property allocated to it and will engage independently in civil legal relations.
During the meeting, Cabinet adopted a resolution on providing public servants and special civil servants with renttoown apartments.
Within the framework of the resolution, the minister of construction and urban development and the Ulaanbaatar mayor were ordered to develop a special program designed for allowing frontline civil servants working in the COVID19 response under conditions of high risk to access apartments through a renttoown arrangement, and ensure prompt implementation.
Around 1,300 to 1,600 apartments currently available on the market are to be purchased through open selection within the housing program targeting civil servants under a renttoown contract, and the Ministry of Finance, Bank of Mongolia and Capital City Housing Corporation will be in charge of settling the issues related to the required funding.
The program aims to support and assist civil servants helping others during the COVID19 pandemic and their families, and support the construction sector, while keeping construction jobs stable.
Currently, over 3,000 households have been provided with apartments through the rental apartment program run by the Capital City Housing Corporation.
