Rain ruins roads, causing traffic congestion
The rainy season of Mongolia has started. It is proving difficult not only for pedestrians, but also drivers as puddles and potholes debilitate city roads. Street, the back road of the first khoroolol of Songinokhairkhan District, Tasgan Ovoo of Chingeltei District, Bayanburd, 25th pharmacy of Bayangol District, east road of School No. 28, and west road of DariEkh of Bayanzurkh District was flood and it became difficult to travel.
Heavy congestion also occured on the roads of Tasgan ovoo, Peace Avenue, DariEkh, Doloon Buudal, Zuslan and around Geser Monastery on that day.
The National Agency for Meteorology and the Environmental Monitoring reported that central and eastern part of the country will experience heavy rain from June 26 to 30.
Thunderstorms are expected in some parts of the country on June 26 to 28. The wind will intensify temporarily before the rain and there will be a dust storm.
On June 26, temperatures are expected to be 3 to 8 degrees Celsius at nighttime and 3 to 18 degrees Ceilsus during the day in Altai, Khangai, Khuvsgul, Khentii mountainous area, around Khurenbelchir, source of Zavkhan River, Terelj River valley; and 13 to 18 degrees Celsius at nighttime and 29 to 34 degrees Celsius during the day in the southern part of Gobi region. Officials warned that heavy rain may cause traffic congestion and make it difficult to travel.
99 GERS DAMAGED IN FLOODS IN
KHENTII
Five areas in Khentii Province experienced floods due to heavy rain on June 24 and 25. More specifically, as of 1:00 a.m. on June 25, 121 emergency calls over flood damages were registered. Floods damaged 99 gers and fences, 15 houses, basements of 13 business entities, basements of nine apartment buildings, and 80 percent of public roads.
Employees of the Emergency Management Agency of Khentii Province and workers of Khargui LLC are working to repair roads. Seven adults and five children of four families have lost their homes due to the floods, and are being sheltered in the dormitory of School No. 4 in Kherlen soum.
Hail storms struck Khentii and Dundgovi provinces on June 25. The National Emergency Management Agency evacuated 376 people across seven rivers in six soums of Bulgan, Selenge, Khentii and Tuv provinces to ensure their safety.
POLICE RESCUE CHILD FROM FLOOD WATER
The heavy rain in Ulaanbaatar on June 24 caused floods in some districts. Officer of the First Police Division of Songinokhairkhan District N.Battur, who was on duty during the flood, saved an 11yearold boy who was being swept away by flood water in Takhilt.
Officials have issued warning regarding floods and rain, especially near bodies of water.
EMERGENCY WORKERS HELP VOTER
CROSS RIVERS
The National Emergency Management Agency worked to prevent floods and water accidents to ensure emergency readiness, support the election procedure, and to ensure the safety of citizens and voters when crossing rivers on June 24.
A total of 596 citizens were provided assistance for crossing nine rivers in eight soums of six provinces as water levels rose to dangerous level.
For instance, emergency workers helped 50 people safely cross Jarantai River in Arkhangai Province as the main bridge on the river was broken. Emergency workers helped 130 people cross Eg River safely in Dalan bag of Teshig soum, Bulgan Province, while 50 people crossed Selenge River in Sukhbaatar Province and 81 people and four vehicles crossed Tuul River in Erdene soum of Tuv Province with assistance of the emergency agency on the same day.
