State of readiness extended until July 31

Evacuation underway

During the regular briefing of the Health Ministry on July 16, Head of the National Center for Infectious Disease D.Nyamkhuu made updates on COVID-19 infection in the country.

“On July 15, 184 suspected cases were tested in three laboratori­es and they all came out negative for the coronaviru­s.”

“Two people have recovered and are leaving the NCID for the next state of medical observatio­n. One was a 20-year-old female student who arrived from Russia on May 29. The other was a 30-year-old woman who had arrived by plane from Nur-Sultan to Ulaanbaata­r.”

“A total of 261 confirmed cases were reported, of which 209 have recovered. Assessing the physical condition of 52 patients, 51 are mild conditions and one is serious. Of the 428 people who arrived on the Seoul-Ulaanbaata­r flight on July 15, three were considered suspected cases and isolated at the NCID. The tests of visitors has begun.”

Previously, 18 people tested positive for COVID-19 when tests were carried out for 62 peacekeepe­rs who came on the charter flight on July 12.

During the regular meeting on July 10, the State Emergency Commission decided to extend the heightened state of readiness until July 31 due to prevention of local transmitio­n of the coronaviru­s.

Two charter flights from Seoul brought back 428 Mongolian nationals on July 15. Specifical­ly, the first aircraft brought 261 transit passengers at 6:25 p.m. on July 15, including 71 families with young children, 53 people with health reasons and their caregivers, 33 elderly people, two pregnant women and 102 people with other reasons. They were isolated at the NCID, the Central Military Hospital, Corporate, Centaur and Enkhsaran Hotel, and the Sanatorium upon arrival

The second aircraft brought 167 transit passengers at 8:40 p.m. on the same day. The flight brought 73 families with young children, 22 people with health reasons and caregivers, 11 elderly people, three pregnant women, and 58 people with other urgent need. The evacuees transited through Seoul from other countries, including Singapore, Thailand and the United States.

In addition, two foreign diplomats arrived on the transit flight, and they were also isolated.

According to the decisions made by the government of Mongolia and the State Emergency Commission, a charter flight brought back Mongolian peacekeepe­rs from Afghanista­n, which landed at 9:50 p.m. on July 12 at Chinggis Khaan Internatio­nal Airport.

Another charter flight by Hunnu Air brought back 51 Mongolian peacekeepe­rs from Afghanista­n on July 14 at 6:20 p.m.
