-

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law on the Ratification of the Treaty on Friendly Relations and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and Mongolia, according to Russian media.

Heads of the two states, Kh.Battulga and Vladimir Putin, inked the treaty on September 3 last year during the Russian president’s state visit to Mongolia. The Mongolian side had ratified the treaty on November 29 and the treaty is to come into force when both sides exchange letters of ratification.

Under the treaty, Mongolia and Russia pledge to consider each other as friendly, equal and sovereign states and will interact based on mutual trust, traditional neighborly relations, comprehensive strategic partnership and multifaceted mutually beneficial cooperation.

Within the comprehensive strategic partnership, the parties will develop cooperation in politics, defense, security, economy, trade, finance and investment, infrastructure, transport and communications, energy, information technology, humanitarian and cultural relations, art, education, science and technology, environmental protection, health care, sanitary and epidemiological wellbeing, and other areas of mutual interest.

The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia approved the bill on the ratification of the treaty at its plenary meeting on July 8.
