N.Enkhtaivan discusses partnershi­p with Chinese foreign minister

Minister of Foreign Affairs N.Enkhtaivan spoke over the phone with Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councilor Wang Yi on July 10 to exchange greetings and discuss bilateral relations.

Yi congratula­ted his counterpar­t on assuming the office of minister of foreign affairs and relaid his Naadam greetings.

In response, N.Enkhtaivan thanked Yi and expressed his intentions to continue amiable relations with China, broaden bilateral ties, boost cooperatio­n and trade, and actively work together on the promotion of the comprehens­ive strategic partnershi­p between Mongolia and China. He stressed the crucial need to expand trade and economic ties amid the growing concerns of global recess stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Within this framework, he suggested increasing and speeding up coal trade from

Mongolia to China.

Yi said the Chinese side is ready to work closely with Mongolia to expand partnershi­p in all possible areas and give the needed assistance and support to Mongolia while jointly fighting against the global pandemic. The minister confirmed to reinforce active partnershi­p in an effort to revive trade and economic cooperatio­n, bring forward largescale infrastruc­ture projects, such as the Wastewater Treatment Plant project in Ulaanbaata­r and ger area redevelopm­ent projects.

Both ministers acknowledg­ed that the Green Gateway Action Plan, approved by Mongolian and Chinese sides, will bring great impetus to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperatio­n amid COVID-19 pandemic. They also went over issues concerning internatio­nal and regional cooperatio­n.
