Car accidents kill 7, injure 27

Seven people were killed and 27 injured in road accidents last week. Three of the victims were children. From July 13 to 16, the Traffic Police Department received 294 calls related to traffic accidents.

More specifical­ly, two people were killed, 10 were injured and five cars and a motorcycle were damaged by fire when a large truck carrying fuel crashed and burned on the road between Zavkhan and Arkhangai Province on July 15.

Ten people were injured in an accident in Tsagaan Davaa in Arkhangai Province are being treated at the National Center for Trauma and Injury. Six of them are in critical condition in intensive care unit, and three are in the general ward. They suffered 65 to 90 percent burns. Seven of the victims were from the same family. One member of the family was killed in the fire resulted from the collision, while the others are in critical condition.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, and his wife and four children, and his wife’s mother were all injured in the crash on July 15. The father and 10-year-old son are in very serious condition, while his wife and two children are in critical condition. In particular, the four-month-old child is in critical condition, and the eldest, a 12-year-old child, is also in critical condition. The four-month-old baby is in constant pain due to burns on his body. The children are 12, 10 and 5 years old, and 4 months old. Unfortunat­ely, as a result of the accident, the five-year-old girl was taken to the provincial hospital and died during transporta­tion.

Some other serious traffic accidents include:

A Toyota Corolla rolled over the road in Altan Ovoo bag, Tsenkher soum, Arkhangai Province and the 31-year-old driver died on July 13.

A Hyundai Porter crashed into ger in Tsagaan Ovoo soum of Dornod Province at 7:00 p.m. on July 13 and a one-year-old girl who was in the ger was killed. A Toyota Prius crashed into 47-year-old pedestrian and killed him 1st khoroo of Nalaikh District at 4:00 a.m. on July 14. A Toyota Prius rolled over at a.m. in Sergelen soum of Tuv Province and a 39-year-old man died and three people were injured on July 14.

A Kia Bongo hit a 2-year-old and killed him in a yard in Sukhbaatar soum of Selenge Province on July 16.

Two motorbikes crashed into other on the unpaved road of Uguumur bag of Durgun soum, Khovd Province and one of the drivers was killed.

As a result of traffic accidents, 27 people were injured, including four children last week. In terms of the causes of injuries and deaths in car accidents, the police detected 110 drunk drivers and charged them. In addition, 378 drivers who did not allow pedestrian­s to cross the road were fined.
