30 days’ worth of fuel to be stockpiled starting 2021

-

During its regular meeting on October 7, Cabinet set the amount of fuel reserves to be stockpiled by 24 petroleum companies for 2021. The 24 fuel retailers will have to hold a fuel reserve equal to 30 days of average domestic consumption, which totals to about 120,350 tons.

As for this year, 22 companies have stockpiled at least 133,000 tons of fuel, including 6,000 tons of A-80 gasoline, 42,000 tons of AI-92, 80,700 tons of diesel fuel, and 4,300 tons of TS-1 jet fuel.

Between August 2019 and August 2020, Mongolia imported around 1,443,809 tons of fuel, a 12.8 percent decrease, which was mainly due to COVID-19.

In addition, Cabinet approved areas from which common minerals can be exploited for the construction of 25.8 kilometers of road between Tsagaannuur and Ulaanbaishint.

As part of the project to construct the 189.7 kilometer KhovdUlgii-Ulaanbaishint roads with a loan from the Asian Development Bank, the 163.9 kilometer KhovdUlgii road was put into service in 2019. The construction of the remaining 25.8 kilometers between Tsagaannuur and Ulaanbaishint is currently underway, set to be completed in 2022.

As a result of the project, the Bulgan border crossing with China and Ulaanbaishint border crossing with Russia will be connected by 746 kilometers of road.

On the same day, Minister of Education and Science L.Tsedevsuren presented activates planned in the education sector to Cabinet.
