NEMA receives 40 firefighting and rescue vehicles
Through the export cooperation between Mongolia and Belarus, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) received 40 special purpose firefighting and rescue vehicles.
Deputy Prime Minister Ya.Sodbaatar said, “Since 2003, the government of Mongolia, in cooperation with the governments of Japan, Korea, Austria, Poland, China, France and Belarus, and international organizations, has implemented non-repayable and concessional loans and assistance projects and programs to increase the capacity of the NEMA. Through the implementation of the Disaster Management Capacity Building Project, the capacity of emergency management agencies to fight fires, disasters, and conduct search and rescue operations will be improved, and it will be possible to successfully fulfill its legal duties and provide public services to citizens.”
The fire and rescue vehicles supplied under the project are unique in that they are equipped with additional equipment to suit Mongolia’s harsh climate and terrain. Firefighting and rescue vehicles will be handed over to capital city, central and local emergency management agencies. This will boost emergency vehicle availability by 14.4 percent. The handover ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Ya.Sodbaatar, Ambassador of Belarus Stanislav Chepurnoy, Head of the NEMA G.Ariunbuyan, Deputy Ulaanbaatar Mayor J.Batbayasgalan, and Deputy Head of Maintenance Department of Pozhsnab Company Pavel Vitalyevich.
