During the regular briefing of the Health Ministry on October 7, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs L.Munkhtushig gave information about current issues.

“To date, 23,354 citizens have been brought in from 81 foreign countries. A total of 16,816 citizens arrived on 84 special duty flights. There will be 11 special mission flights this month,” he said. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its embassies abroad, regularly updates the information of citizens wishing to return home. The total number of people wishing to return is about 9,000. This is the number of people who want to return home immediately.”

“As of today, 3,000 people have returned in October, of which about 2,500 came from South Korea. This month’s flights are expected to bring in 2,760 people. By the end of the month, the number of people wishing to return home immediately will fall sharply and the evacuation process will be almost complete,” L.Munkhtushig said. “As part of efforts to prevent the spread of the pandemic, all types of short-stay visas were suspended from January 27, 2020. However, in view of the pandemic situation, the State Emergency Commission has decided to issue short-term visas to foreigners wishing to come to Mongolia for official or business purposes as a matter of urgency.”

“Therefore, foreigners who come to Mongolia for official or business purposes are issued a 30-day visa, and with 21 days of isolation, they will be able to work in Mongolia. It was also decided that the visa could be extended for 30 days. Foreigners must have a coronavirus test before boarding a flight.”
