People across Mongolia took part in National Tree Planting Day on October 10, observed on the second Saturday of May and October, to make a difference for the environment by planting more than 2,000 trees of 10 types.
On the day, more than 50 citizens and organizations, including the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Mongol Bank, General Authority for State Registration, Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi LLC, Teachers of the School of Geology and Mining of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, School No. 93, Jur Ur LLC and Max Urguu LLC, took part in the event.
Minister of Nature, Environment and Tourism D.Sarangerel, representatives of the Ulaanbaatar City Council, representatives of the Ulaanbaatar Mayor’s Office and related officials were also in attendance.
In particular, they planted seabuckthorn, maple, greenery, evergreen trees, and currant to protect drinking water sources, and contributed to the city's greenery and future.
As of today, a total of 139,717 trees have been planted in the National Park, with a growth rate of 98.5 percent.
The second Saturdays of May and October were declared as National Tree Planting Day by Decree No. 63 of the President of Mongolia in 2010. On the occasion of these days, the National Garden Park has a tradition of organizing tree planting in cooperation with organizations and citizens.
