Parties and coalitions spent 9.4 billion MNT in parliamentary election
A total of 485 people from 13 parties and 4 coalitions were nominated in 29 constituencies in the last parliamentary election, which took place in June. Of these, 11 parties and 4 coalitions submitted election expense reports to the Mongolian National Audit Office (MNAO).
Last week, the MNAO announced its conclusion of the reports on its website.
In accordance with Order A / 23 of the auditor general of Mongolia, the maximum expenditure per party and coalition for the parliamentary elections was set at 5.9 billion MNT.
Seven legal entities donated 98.7 million MNT and 1,744 citizens donated more than 5.8 billion MNT in cash and non-cash donations to parties and coalitions participating in the election. However, the parties and coalitions spent more than 9.5 billion MNT on their activities, of which about 9.4 billion MNT was spent on the election.
In particular, they spent 5.7 billion MNT on radio and television advertising, 1.4 billion MNT on election administration activities, 996 million MNT on action plan printing, 63 million MNT on street and square flags, 171 million MNT on online media, 211 million MNT on meetings with voters, and 475 million MNT on daily newspapers and magazines.
In addition, 123 citizens and legal entities, who did not mention their names, registration numbers and sources, donated 101.1 million MNT. Of this, 97.8 million MNT was transferred back and 200,000 MNT was taken as state revenue. The audit concluded that it was illegal to spend the remaining 3.1 million MNT when a donor information was missing.
The MNAO instructed the Ministry of Finance to take action against parties and coalitions that violated the relevant provisions of the Law on Parliamentary Elections in accordance with Article 17.1 of the Law on Infringements.
