Disaster preparedness mode declared
After the meeting of the State Emergency Commission on November 11 and 12, Deputy Prime Minister Ya.Sodbaatar said Mongolia transferred to a public disaster preparedness mode starting 6:00 a.m. on November 12 to 6:00 p.m. on November 17.
“A five-day lockdown will be imposed. This is the first time that we have taken such a measure. In this context, the following organizations will work normally. There are no restrictions on grocery stores, supermarkets, food markets, gas stations, pharmacies, hospitals, water supply wells, water supply, heating, power plants, media, communications, charitable activities, and intercity food transportation. I urge the public not to leave their homes. Professional organizations recommend drastically restricting movement.”
“There will be a small number of people associated with government agencies. There is a state disaster protection service in all sectors. The names of those who will work in that office are being announced. These people will work and the others will stay at home. We also urge the private sector to provide workers with the opportunity to work from home. "
SPECIAL DUTY FLIGHTS CANCELED
In connection with public preparedness for disaster protection, all flights of MIAT Mongolian Airlines were canceled from 6:00 a.m. on November 12 to 6:00 p.m. on November 17, except for the special duty flight to Seoul scheduled on November 13.
"We will not bring our citizens from Seoul through special mission flight on November 13, and we plan to bring some necessary medical equipment," Deputy Prime Minister Ya.Sodbaatar highlighted.
According to the decision of the State Emergency Commission, a Ulaanbaatar to Tokyo flight departed from Chinggis Khaan International Airport at 9:30 a.m. on November 11 and landed in Ulaanbaatar at 11:00 p.m. on the same day.
A total of 146 people returned home on the plane. These people are isolated at the Corporate, Kempinski and Wen Zou hotels.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION RESTRICTED
In connection with the local transmission of COVID-19 in Mongolia, public transportation will work in the morning and evening on restricted hours. In other words, buses are available between 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the morning and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the evening. There will be no intercity travel except for food trucks to reduce public gathering and prevent more infections.
Private businesses and the public are compelled to comply with disaster protection laws and public preparedness.
MARKETS INCREASING PRICES TO BE FINED 20 MILLION MNT
The Authority for Fair Competition and Consumer Protection took immediate action on November 11 to prevent inflation and artificial shortages.
The inspection revealed that on Wednesday morning, the price of meat at the Khuchit Shonkhor market had been increased after COVID-19 lockdown by the authorities. A fine of 20 million MNT was imposed on Khuchit Shonkhor and Tavan-Erdene markets for selling meat at higher price, in accordance with the Law on Infringements.
Major supermarket chains Emart, Nomin, Orgil, CU, Efes and Tumen Shuvuut LLC have stated that they will not increase prices and that they have enough stocks.
Major pharmacies, such as Monos LLC, Ariun Mongol LLC, Paloma LLC, Euro Pharm LLC, and Khurmen LLC, have issued statements on maintaining prices of disinfectants and other goods.
Bumbugur Shopping Center issued an order to renters not to inflate prices and ensure the normal supply of goods, which was signed by the renters and submitted to the Authority for Fair Competition and Consumer Protection.
There are also complaints that prices have risen in small pharmacies, and inspections are continuing to eradicate artificial shortage.
