- By B.DULGUUN

Export and import clearance of goods in the customs control zones of the customs office in Ulaanbaatar is being carried out normally amid the city lockdown, according to the General Customs Office.

The office reported that the customs clearance of medicines, drugs, humanitarian goods, personal protective equipment and diplomatic cargo will continue as usual.

The Buyant-Ukhaa Customs Office is operating normally. The Berlin to Ulaanbaatar flight (MGL3136) landed in Ulaanbaatar at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday and the Ulaanbaatar to Guangzhou flight (MGL7235) departed at 12:10 p.m.

According to the decisions of the government and State Emergency Commission on November 10, the Altanbulag road checkpoint is to be closed off for cargoes coming from Russia and out of Mongolia from November 16 to January 18, 2021. Until then, the General Customs Office is continuing freight and traffic movement across the Altanbulag checkpoint under the high level of disinfection regime. Border and inland customs clearance is underway.

As of Thursday morning, 38 trucks loaded with imports of Russian food products were going to the customs control zone in Ulaanbaatar for inland customs clearance and 10 trucks were waiting for clearance at Altanbulag.

In accordance with the government's decision, an isolation zone and a transshipment area have been established in the Altanbulag Free Zone. It will be used to provide clearance for imported products that easily go bad or get damaged, such as medicines, eggs and fruits, starting January 18.

Operations of Mongolia-Russia border crossings at Tsagaannuur, Tes, Borshoo, Artssuuri, Khankh and Ulikhan have been temporarily suspended. Under the government order, the Tsagaannuur border checkpoint in Bayan-Ulgii Province will commence petrol imports via road every Tuesdays and Thursdays starting from November 23.

Most checkpoints bordering with China are functioning without disruptions. Coal, copper concentrate, fluorspar, iron ore and concentrates are being exported through Gashuunsukhait, Khovd Province’s Bulgan, and Dornogovi Province’s Zamiin-Uud and Khangi border checkpoints. Loading and customs clearings are proceeding normally for copper concentrate and iron ore at the control zones of customs offices in Darkhan and Orkhon provinces.

Customs offices in Bayan-Ulgii, Uvs, Zavkhan and Khuvsgul provinces have been closed off. The Customs Office in Selenge Province will be closed from November 16 to January 15, 2021, but other customs offices are running normally. At present, the Ereentsav border checkpoint is enabling coal export and the Bayankhoshuu border checkpoint is enabling crude oil export.
