Head of the State Emergency Commission and Head of the Cabinet Secretariat of the government of Mongolia L.Oyun-Erdene held an online meeting with province mayors, who reported on current issues, and gave instructions, on November 17.
In order to ensure disaster preparedness in Bayan-Ulgii Province, there is a need to create a stockpile of COVID-19 pandemic rapid diagnostics, medicines and medical protective clothing, and support from the State Emergency Commission. Local authorities with border crossings in Umnugovi, Dornod and Dornogovi provinces were reminded to pay special attention to the infection control regime in the relevant areas.
Authorities of disaster protection were instructed to ensure the interests of citizens, discipline and accountability within the framework of the Law on Public Disaster Preparedness and gave instructions in the following areas.
These include:
- According to Government Resolution No. 181, which extended the period of public disaster readiness mode by 14 days, to work as one management under the unified management of the head of the State Emergency Commission. - Disseminate information to the public in one stream, fully analyze any suspected cases and inform the public.
- Provide regular information to nomadic herders, pay attention to their safety and health, and do not impose restrictions on their territory.
- Complete the appointment of soum and local mayors after the local elections in accordance with the law.
- Do not layoff employees.
- Receive meteorological information from the National Emergency Management Agency, warn people and herders, and prevent disasters caused by dangerous weather events.
- Complete provision for work, safety, protection and clothing for employees working in connection with the transition to the level of public readiness
- Monitor the flow of people between cities and support the transportation of food and meat without interrupting food supply.
