-

The Council under speaker of Parliament held an online meeting to discuss some activities on November 16.

Secretary General of Parliament L.Ulziisaikhan introduced draft resolutions and other activities to be discussed by the working group, standing and sub-committees and Parliament next week.

Chairman of the Mongolian People’s Party caucus in Parliament D.Togtokhsuren noted that it is necessary to organize regular and plenary sessions of Parliament in an online format without duplication, and to provide an opportunity for working groups to meet.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament S.Odontuya said, “Garbage collection and food service organizations may be understaffed. In addition to law enforcement and state officials, many people are working in the frontline. We need to support them.”

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture, Science and Sports J.Munkhbat highlighted that Parliament needs to be more proactive and pragmatic. In particular, lawmakers need to answer the question of what to do with loan repayment and interest rate, he said.

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economy J.Ganbaatar said, “In addition to the health sector and government officials, many people of the private sector are at risk. In particular, gas station workers, food vendors, and so on. We have to pay attention to them. On the other hand, Parliament needs to express its position and take action on issues such as how to support vulnerable people.”

During the meeting, members of the council agreed that the temporary committee should convene to discuss and monitor the implementation of the Law on Prevention, Control and Reduction of Social and Economic Impact of Pandemic in the near future. Therefore, the council decided to hold a temporary committee meeting this week to take necessary action.
