WHO hands health equipment to Mongolia
Some international organizations are supporting Mongolia's response against coronavirus infection. In this context, WHO Resident Representative in Mongolia Sergey Diorditsa visited the National Center for Communicable Disease and the Central Military Hospital to hand over 96,000 USD worth of medicines, medical supplies and equipment donated by WHO to Mongolia.
Diorditsa said, “WHO will support Mongolia in all aspects of overcoming the coronavirus pandemic with minimal damage. We are working to provide support with other equipment we need in the future.”
Minister of Health T.Munkhsaikhan said, “In the past, we prepared 440 beds at the Central Military Hospital, 400 beds at the National Center for Communicable Disease, and 500 beds at the New Maternity Hospital in Yarmag. If necessary, 10 percent of them will be used for intensive care. As the availability of intensive care is critical when the situation of COVID-19 is critical, hospitals are increasing the number of intensive care beds and providing the necessary equipment to increase access to intensive care.”
“Today, we are doubling the intensive care capacity of the Military Central Hospital and providing necessary equipment. In addition, WHO donated medical equipment, respirators, monitors and other necessary equipment to the hospitals. In terms of human resources, a list of people who will work in difficult situations has been prepared. We are working to organize intensive care in hospitals in accordance with timely issues. New maternity and children's medical equipment is now being installed at the fair. The National Center for Communicable Disease has 20 respirators in the intensive care unit. The installation of additional devices will begin tomorrow. In terms of human resources, it is organized according to the plan.”
